How to Wrap a Gift
Gift wrapping is all about presentation. You can choose the perfect present and still send the wrong message with a poorly wrapped gift. You could let a store clerk handle it, but that's not always an option. Consider learning to wrap a gift a lesser, but still valuable, life skill.
Supplies Needed
Basics
A hard, flat surface to work on will be needed. Whenever possible,
envelope, as it can be lost in the paper milieu.
Before doing any actual wrapping you should consider the following:
* Do a simple test for size2 inches on each side of the item, you have enough wrapping. You can always cut away excess later; in gift wrapping, less is not more.
* Ideally, the
paper should overlap on itself slightly, to prevent peaking.
* Keep the ends as even as possible for a more uniform look; a flexible
metal ruler can help.
* And of course, make sure you have the right paper to wrap the gift with:
After cutting away the unneeded paper, proceed to the actual
wrapping:
* Lay the item face down on the spread out paper, on it's flattest side. If it's a perfect
cube, this is harder, but the principles are the same.
* Fold over the the paper lengthwise over the gift.
* Tape down the fold in the center to start, then tape down the ends.
* Overlap the next fold over the first by about an inch. Then tape, once again starting in the center.
There should be some
paper extending over the ends of the gift. Depending on how deep the box is, you can deal with this in a few ways:

ribbon, and don't forget the gift tag. Creasing all the corners of the wrapped gift can also help give your wrapping a polished look.
