For competitive swimming and diving, special kind of bodysuits called diveskins are worn. Made from spandex, these suits provide little thermal protection, but they do protect the skin from stings and abrasion.You can also try out special swimsuits, including partial or full bodysuits, racerback styles, racing briefs.

Kinds of Men's Swimwear

Trunks: They are a universally chosen for swimming.
Board shorts: They originate in countries where surfing was a main water sport or activity. They have a baggy fit and are longer than swimming trunks. They are very comfortable in comparison to other swimwear.
Briefs: They are often good for water resistance and so, are preferred options for water sport athletes.
Swimsuits: Full and half body suits are good for other kinds of water activities apart from swimming.
Body skins: They are made of a smooth fabric that resists friction in water.

Fabrics Used

Many men’s swimsuits are made of what is called the endurance fabric from Speedo. This is a lightweight fabric and is more water resistant. Figure hugging material is generally used to ensure a good fit. Slinky type fabric, small ribbed fabric, nylon and Lycra blended fabric are increasingly being used for a tight fit.
