Shoes Buying Guide
Style matters a lot, and so does comfort. Shoes can be divided under several categories and need to be chosen based on both these primary factors.
Styles of Shoes
- Pumps: These shoes have a closed toe and have a heel, which could vary in height from shoe to shoe.
- Platform shoes: Such shoes have heels that form a block and the sole extends from the tip of the shoe to the back.
- Boots: They offer more coverage than normal shoes and can be worn during winter or simply because they’re stylish. They come in various sizes such as ankle length, knee high and thigh high boots.
- Sandals: These women’s shoes have straps and a heel in either a block heel, stacked heel or a pencil heel.
- Wedges: The heel of this shoe would resemble a triangular door-stop. They come in various heel heights and are apt for casual to semi-formal wear.
- Moccasins: They are easy to wear and ideal during travel. They are very soft and comfortable and come in styles for men and women. Boot moccasins are completely different from other types of moccasins as they can be worn for even night outs.
- Flats: Shoes that do not have any heel and are flat-based are termed as flats. Slippers, flip flops, ballerina flats, peep-toe flats and most of men’s shoes come under tis classification.
Shoes for Different Events
- Weather Shoes: Shoes such as rubber boots, wellington boots and rain boots can be worn during inclement weather.
- Beach Shoes: Go for lightweight shoes such as flip flops, strappy sandals and crocs. Canvas, rubber and organic materials are ideal for such purposes.
- Formal Wear: For men, dress shoes in black or other neutral colours can be chosen. Women can go for evening footwear such as stilettos, evening sandals and high heel pumps.
- Casual wear: Shoes such as loafers and moccasins for men and women, ballerina flats for women, sneakers and sports shoes.
- Activity Shoes: Shoes such as hiking boots, dancing shoes, football cleats, basketball trainers, golf shoes, running shoes and gym footwear all come under this category.
